Balterley Baths

Balterley baths are supplied in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Our range of baths covers all the popular styles - from standard rectangular baths to the very latest Shower Bath, Freestanding Bath or Corner Bath designs. We are sure to have shape and size that will fit in with your new bathroom plan.

Balterley baths are available in various sizes ranging from compact baths at 1500x700mm or more standard sizes of 1700x700mm and all the way through to the luxurious double ended 1800x800mm styles.

Balterley Freestanding baths are also available in various sizes and designs from the traditional 'Roll top' style of Echo and Vista to the stunning modern designs of Cube or Sweep.

All Balterley baths are manufactured from reinforced Acrylic or Steel; we have listed the features and benefits of these two materials, to help you make your choice of bath.

With steel baths due to the relatively high cost of manufacturing tools and the relative inflexibility of the material they tend to be simpler in design, this is why you don't find many steel corner baths, or Shower baths.

The manufacturing process for acrylic baths is simpler, the tools are cheaper, and the material is much easier to mould therefore designs tend to be more wide ranging and elaborate.

Thermal properties

Steel as a material conducts heat well so the water in a steel bath will cool more quickly than in an acrylic bath. However please be aware that this effect will normally be so small that it won't affect your bathing experience.

Acrylic baths retain heat better than steel baths are warmer to the touch. This is due to the thermal property of the acrylic itself added to the effect of the glass fibre reinforcement, which covers the back of acrylic baths.

Surface finish

Good quality steel baths, such as the Balterley steel baths are finished with a hardwearing enamel surface that will give many years of trouble free use. Please be aware however that should the enamel become damaged it will need professional attention to repair it and the bath may need replacing.

Good quality acrylic baths (those manufactured from sanitary grade acrylic, such as the Milano range) will also give many years of trouble free use with the added advantage that small surface scratches and blemishes can be polished out using 'T' Cut or a similar mild buffing agent.

Stability

Steel baths give the impression of being more stable when fitted, as the material is obviously less flexible to start with. Acrylic baths have suffered in the past from a poor reputation due the supply of inferior quality products. However they still have the lion's share of the market in the UK and when supplied by a reputable brand such as Milano and installed correctly they should prove sturdy and trouble free, for many years.
